Now a compact & sleek sibling of these two pickup trucks has entered the market. This new truck that aims to cater to the demands of people who don’t want a proper commercial truck but want a vehicle that looks like a truck but with phenomenal fuel economy.

The truck named after Ford’s legendry 60s era muscle car Maverick has successfully accumulated thousands of orders. A testament to the fact that people are excited about Ford’s latest offering in the segment. So what’s the hype behind this new vehicle?

Practicality and Capability

The all-new Ford Maverick may lack the tough looks of a traditional pickup truck, but it makes up for it with a sleek exterior compact dimensions and front end. The rotating U-shaped front lights are fitted with LED lights & DRLs that further bolster its image as a competent and agile truck. The exterior of the Ford Maverick is a proper mixture of modernity and the classic Ford look.

The Maverick may be compact outside, but it has a decent room inside to accommodate five adults with ease. In addition, the three-tier dash comes fitted with an 8-inch touchscreen as well as Android Auto and Apple Car Play, together with Wi-Fi connectivity and an eight-speaker audio system. In a nutshell, the dash and entire layout look premium for a truck with a base price of just $20,000.

Efficient and Powerful

The front-wheel-drive pickup truck has a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs. with a maximum of 4,000 lbs. There are two engine options available; the 2.5L hybrid powertrain delivers a total of 191 hp & 155 lb.-ft of torque. The upper-spec 2.0L turbocharged Eco Boost engine returns 250 hp and 277 lb.-ft of torque. The base 2L hybrid powertrain promises an excellent fuel average of up to 37 mpg (city & highway combined). This was previously unheard of from a pickup truck of any class. However, hybrid versions will only be available with a CVT transmission, whereas Eco Boost variants will have an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Overall, the 2022 Ford Maverick promises rich features at a great price tag. It aims to attract traditional sedan buyers by offering exceptional gas mileage, a roomy cabin and bed, and a decent towing capacity. A total of three variants will be on sale, though only the 2.0L Eco Boost version will be available in AWD configuration.
