The BackPack Program | Helping to Empower Students
As the back-to-school season gears up in Flathead Valley, we’re getting pretty excited over at Kalispell Ford. You can practically feel the energy in the air as students gear up for a brand-new year of learning. But guess what? We’ve got something special to talk about – something that’s close to our hearts. The Backpack program.
We know that heading back to school should be about more than just books and pencils. It’s about setting students up for success, and that means making sure they have the essentials they need. Here’s a fact that might surprise you: around 12.1% of the local kids right here in Flathead Valley face food insecurity. That’s a number that hits us hard, and we’re all about making a positive impact.
That’s where the incredible folks at the Flathead Food Bank come in. They’re like real-life superheroes, working tirelessly to make sure no one in our community goes to bed hungry. And one of their superhero programs? You guessed it – the BackPack Program.
The Backpack Program
The BackPack Program teams up with teachers, counselors, and school staff from over 20 schools in Flathead Valley. Their mission? To identify those students who could use a little extra support. These are the kids who might be facing some challenges, and the BackPack Program steps in to lend a helping hand.
Imagine this: Every weekend, these awesome kids get a special backpack filled with goodness. We’re talking about breakfast, lunch, juice, milk – and yes, there’s a treat for each day they’re away from school. It’s like a surprise package of deliciousness! And here’s the cool part – it’s all set up and discreetly handed out on the last school day before the weekend or a holiday. It’s a quiet way of making sure these kiddos have enough to eat even when the regular school meals aren’t available. And don’t worry, the food is totally kid-friendly and easy to prepare.
Now, here’s the mind-blowing part – right here in our own Flathead Valley, the BackPack Program reaches out to over 450 students. And guess what? They’re making a huge impact, providing a staggering 73,000 meals each year. That’s the kind of difference we’re proud to be a part of.
Kalispell Ford’s Contribution
We’re all about being good community citizens, and that’s a value we hold close to our hearts. Throughout the entire month of August, all three of our dealerships – Kalispell Ford, Kalispell Toyota, and Kalispell Volkswagen – are coming together for a fantastic cause. For every vehicle we sell, we’re donating $50 to the BackPack Program. Our goal? To raise a grand total of $20,000. And you know what? This isn’t just a one-time thing. Nope, we’ve been doing this for years, and it’s a tradition we’re keeping alive because we truly believe in it.
How You Can Help
So here’s where you come in. If you’re thinking about getting yourself a new ride – whether it’s a shiny brand-new model or a reliable used one – consider stopping by our dealerships this August. By choosing us, you’re not just getting a top-notch vehicle; you’re also making a real impact on the lives of these kids through the BackPack Program. And we get it – maybe you’re not in the market for a car right now. No worries at all! You can still be a part of this incredible effort by making a donation at any of our dealerships. Your generosity goes directly into our BackPack Program Drive, and guess where it ends up? Right at the Flathead Food Bank, ready to make a real difference in the upcoming school year.
Oh, and here’s a little secret for those of you who are super busy – you can head over to the Flathead Food Bank’s website and donate directly to their programs. It’s quick, it’s convenient, and it’s a wonderful way to show your support for our local food bank and the amazing work they do for our community.
Let’s join forces and make sure these kids head home after school happy, not hungry. Kalispell Ford is beyond thrilled to be a part of this incredible initiative, and we’re inviting each and every one of you to stand right alongside us. Together, we can ensure that every child in our community gets a fair shot at learning, growing, and thriving.
