Ford’s Ambitious Push to Go Electric by 2030

The automotive industry is in a race to go electric. Automakers are looking left and right to develop class-leading electric vehicles. So, let’s take a look at what Ford Motor Company is doing in this electric race.
Ford has now announced its plans to beef up its EV investment which is evident by its $22 billion investment under the electrification program. Moreover, the brand plans on selling 40% electric vehicles by the year 2030.
Mustang Mach-E
Ford took its first step towards electric mobility by introducing the Mustang Mach-E crossover SUV in late 2019. The crossover initially didn’t receive expected fanfare, but slowly, it dented Tesla’s market share. Now it has surpassed gasoline Mustang’s sales figures. The Mach-E is laying a solid foundation for Ford’s next EVs.
Ford Transit
The Ford Transit is a popular van amongst commercial users. Ford has already unveiled its EV version that will be available in 2022. The cost is nearly $50,000 with a reasonable range of approximately 200 miles. When available, it will form the backbone of famous e-commerce giants such as Amazon.
F-150 Lightning
The all-new Ford F-150 Lightning has created a lot of buzz across the entire world. More than 100,000 pre-orders were placed shortly after its release. The F-150 is the brand’s cash cow. Naturally, its electric version has been fitted with all the bells & whistles to make it attractive for mainstream consumers. However, features aside, the F-150 Lightning has the greatest advantage with a $40,000 price tag.
All three EV vehicles form steppingstones for Ford’s ambition to become an emission-free automaker. They have all been successful both in garnering considerable success from the public and the company’s investors. America’s legendry automaker may be a bit late to the party. Yet still, it has proven its worth in the electric race.
