Help Us Keep Children in the Flathead Valley Fed | Backpack Program

August 4th, 2022 by

If you walk into Kalispell Ford for the month of August you will see backpacks around our showroom. These are to bring awareness to our customers about the Backpack program. All month long we will donate $50 for every vehicle that is sold to the Flathead Valley Food Bank. We work together with Kalispell Volkswagen and Kalispell Toyota with a goal to raise $20,000. We are also accepting any and all cash or check donations towards this cause at all 3 of our dealerships.

When you see backpacks most people associate them with school or school supplies. But the Backpack program is to help keep children in the Flathead Valley fed. Are you aware that 1 in 6 kids in Montana are food insecure? That equals a lot of hungry children. This program helps by providing children with a bag of food to take home on the weekends. The bags include non-perishable items and given discreetly to be taken home in their backpacks. Each bag contains enough food for each child to enjoy breakfast, lunch and one snack for each day the child is not at school. As well as juice and milk. Likewise the food that is provided is child friendly and easily prepared at home.

Thanks to this program our community has been able to provide 73,000 meals annually and feed over 400 local students at the following schools:
